Electrolyzer Systems
EBZ offers comprehensive solutions for industrial hydrogen production – from innovative electrolysis stacks to fully modular complete systems. Our containerised electrolysis plant consists of two standardised 20-foot containers: one of the containers houses two high-performance 0.5 MW electrolysis stacks in the innovative EBZ design, whilst the second container contains the complete control technology, power electronics and water treatment system.
Such a containerised system delivers an electrical output of 1 MW. Thanks to its modular design, the plant can be scaled flexibly: for a 5 MW project, for example, five 1 MW modules are combined. This enables us to implement a wide variety of project sizes tailored to specific requirements – efficiently, space-savingly and suitable for industrial use.
For customised complete systems, we also supply our electrolysis stacks separately. Each stack has a rated electrical output of up to 0.5 MW and is designed for operation under pressure. The EBZ electrolysis stack can be seamlessly integrated into individual plant designs, offering maximum flexibility for a wide range of applications.

The electrolysis system is particularly distinguished by the following characteristics:
- High Hydrogen Output: With a rated power of 1 MW, hydrogen ouput can be up to 200 Nm3/h
- Hydrogen purity: Dedicated lye circuits on H₂ and O₂ side to enhance gas purity.
- Pressurized electrolysis: Hydrogen production at a pressure of 30 bar(g) enhances efficiency and reduces additional investment costs of downstream compressors for hydrogen compression and hydrogen storage.
- High dynamic range: Independent stack operation enables 10-100% dynamic load range.
- Heat recovery: Heat from H₂ production can be recovered and utilized.
- Footprint: Systems consist out of two 20-ft containers or alternatively of a 40-ft container.
- Ideal for grid-supportive operation: Reaching 100% load from standby within seconds.
- EU regulatory compliance: Full compliance with the European Hydrogen Bank regulations – produced and assembled in Germany.
Innovative and robust design
Our electrolysis plant combines high performance, flexible operation and a compact design into a cost-effective total solution. It has been specifically developed for industrial applications where efficiency, reliability and easy integration are key priorities.
With a rated output of 1 MW, the plant achieves a hydrogen production rate of up to 200 Nm³/h. At the same time, separate electrolyte circuits on the hydrogen and oxygen sides ensure improved gas purity and create optimal conditions for demanding applications.
Pressure electrolysis generates hydrogen at pressures of up to 30 bar(g). This increases the efficiency of the overall system and reduces the need for downstream compression and storage.
Thanks to the independent operation of the integrated stacks, a dynamic load range of 10 to 100% can be achieved. This allows hydrogen production to be flexibly adapted to fluctuating electricity prices or renewable energy sources.
In addition, the process heat generated during hydrogen production can be recovered and reused. This increases overall efficiency and unlocks further economic potential.
Despite its high output, the plant impresses with its compact footprint. A 1 MW electrolysis plant can be installed either in two 20-foot containers or, alternatively, in a single 40-foot container.
The concept is rounded off by its grid-friendly operation: from standby mode, the plant reaches 100% capacity within a few seconds.
Scalability
Our pressurised alkaline electrolysis systems are designed as containerised solutions. The standard 1 MW system is supplied in two 20-foot containers or one 40-foot container. For higher capacities, several 1 MW units can be combined. Depending on the project size and requirements, the systems can also be configured with a shared auxiliary system to maximise efficiency and reduce overall costs.
Range of services
EBZ supports its clients in the planning and design of electrolysis projects right from the early stages. We take into account technical requirements, potential plant concepts and individual circumstances, thereby establishing a solid foundation for further project development.
We can also manage projects as a general contractor during the implementation phase, coordinating all services from a single source. Together with experienced partners, we cover all key disciplines – from the electrolysis plant, power electronics, water treatment and gas purification right through to hydrogen compression and storage. This reduces interfaces, simplifies project management and provides a single point of contact with EBZ throughout all project phases.
