Hardware/Controls Design Engineer

Possess knowledge of basic AC/DC electrical theory

• Be familiar with basic electrical circuits and components
• Knowledgeable of electrical symbols
• Experienced with CAD assisted software to edit and create schematics
• Able to specify electrical components and create material lists
• Able to size and design power distribution and controls panels
• Able to read electrical schematics
• Able to read floor plans and comprehend electrical specifications of machine design components
• Able to calculate electrical loads and size circuit protection in accordance with US (NEC) and international (IEC) design standards
• Knowledge of programmable logic controller system design and programming experience
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet and ProfiNet
• Knowledge of basic motor control and variable speed drives
• Knowledge of pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and components
• Experience commissioning electrical equipment and systems
• Able to troubleshoot common electrical faults, experience with basic electrical hand tools and diagnostic equipment
• Practice safe work rules as directed
• Coordinate electrical projects with other engineers, technicians and skilled trades
• Assist skilled crafts persons as necessary
• Enjoy problem solving and tolerate stress to complete projects on time and under budget
• Able to work in an industrial environment
• Able to travel, work weekends and holidays as necessary
